The term "postmodern self-defense came up during a conversation with an old friend. He said I should draw it, so I have. I thought about this one for a while, and I landed on this gag. For most people, postmodernism is an "I know it when I see it sort of thing," like irony, but for me postmodernism is a way to makes sense of a universe that doesn't make any sense. This illustration is postmodern on two counts, in my opinion, because, firstly, the defense offered by the eraser has no litteral connection to reality, but is instead completely contingent on the context, and secondly, becasue it is self-referential. We assume the eraser knows he's rubber. There's today's philosophy lesson.
